Cannes Day 13: Close to the End

It’s sad that the trip is almost over.  This has been such a wonderful experience, and it flew by so quickly.  Such is life though.  My penultimate day in Cannes was very relaxing.  I went to see the Court Metrage Competition–the short films that were selections in the festival competition.  There were 9 of them, and all extremely well done.  Many of them were very European in that there wasn’t real resolution sometimes.  Artsy is another word for it.  All of them however were amazing examples about how simplicity of story is vital for success.  Thats one of the biggest lessons that I learned here, and something that is 100% applicable to the work that I am currently doing.

The Court Metrage Competition films all screened in this awesome theater on the top floor of the Palais. I love the idea of not having a single bad seat in the house. All the theaters here are like that.

Just imagine my own film playing for a room like this...one day.

Had another McDonalds run today. I hardly eat it at home, but considering how cheep it is compared to the rest of the food here, and that they actually use real meat in France...I figured what the hell? Do it live.

Took a stroll along the marina today. Just have to remember that "it's not a boat...it's a yacht!"
