Today one of the coaches of the Rutgers Dance Team, whom I’ve worked on several freelance gigs with, put me in touch with a Rutgers alum that was here in Cannes. His company, a mobile app development firm, was having a mixer for Future Leaders in the Film Industry. It was awesome. I met so many cool people from all around the world.
Early in the morning we had a sending off breakfast for Reilly, who was returning to NYU to graduate with her BFA in filmmaking. Oh yea…she’s graduating at Yankee Stadium. No big deal.
You can find beauty in the most unsuspecting places
I headed down past most of the festival to where there are many pavilions set up along the shoreline. Throughout the night this stretch of the beach is pumping with parties by the water.
It is so surreal how beautiful it is here.
The party started off as a small mixer. I got the chance to talk to many people about my filmmaking adventures, and pitched Melody around. I was surprised with how positive everyone responded over the story for Melody. Got a stack of cards so big it couldn’t fit in my wallet. We shall see where that goes.
The most incredible part is that none of this would be possible had I not gone to Rutgers. Without spending my college years On The Banks, I would have never gotten serious about filmmaking, joined CMF, had the chance to refine my skills out in Hollywood for the last two summers, would have never gone to France for Cannes, and would have never been invited to this party. It is such a small world, and being a loyal son of Rutgers has been my greatest networking tool.
They were playing Jaws on the beach. It was cool. I didn’t stay though…i’ve seen it too many times.
Impromptu fireworks by the Palais on the way home. Do you think Spielberg fired them off from his Yacht?
